To protect and promote the spirit and substance of the work of Sir Edwin Lutyens OM
INTRODUCTION
Lutyens designed over 50 war memorials at home and abroad ranging from well-known ones such as The Cenotaph to smaller ones in villages where he had been commissioned by his clients. Beginning on 4th August 2014 (the anniversary of the outbreak of World War 1) we will be featuring a new memorial each month. As the exhibition builds you can navigate from page to page or dip into the current month or previous months.
This is the Lutyens Trust's second web-based exhibition. For the first exhibition click here
We are fortunate to have as our guest curator for this exhibition Tim Skelton. Tim has a comprehensive knowledge of Sir Edwin Lutyens's work on war memorials and war cemeteries and is the co-author, with Gerald Gliddon, of "Lutyens and the Great War" published by Frances Lincoln in 2008. Tim is an active member of the Lutyens Trust and a member of the Photographic Archive Committee.
